My work has always been inspired by my friends and family and my Pakistani heritage. By painting people that I know shows a part of my life in a unique way and portrays how I see my loved ones. Over the course of my time at university, I have seen myself get out of my comfort zone several times, moving away from the traditional type of portraiture that I am used to, and experimented with different styles and colours which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Most of my projects have seen me portray my culture in several ways, whether it be the colours of our clothes, the extravagant weddings we host, the jewellery we wear, etc. in an attempt to clear the negative stigmas that some people might hold of Pakistani culture.
