These paintings are explorations of architectural landscapes. These landscapes/spaces do not exist in reality; they are fantasy, dream like spaces; spaces that are hostile to human life, possibly. Each painting explores the distortion and abstraction of potential architectural spaces, by turning the real into the unreal. I have been observing the contrast between exterior and interior spaces, using recognisable interior elements that would be familiar to the human eye. I have been particularly focused on turning these observations into abstract forms, through painting, which explains the almost pixel like elements, as well as the blocks of colour, instead of finer details, which would depict reality/a real life space. The methodologies surrounding my work involve the manipulation of two dimensional and three-dimensional forms. Through this, I have also been able to explore a higher level of abstraction in some other paintings, focusing on geometric, minimalist forms.
