Rotating a 2-D image around an axis results in a 3-D object. This piece takes advantage of this. A rotating sculpture and a shaft of light create the illusion of a moving image. The aim of this piece is to get the audience to consider basic fundaments of the universe, such as light, shape, and motion. These are often taken for granted. We get caught up in the minutia of life; not realising that the Universe owes us nothing.

ROTATIONAL also establishes a dialogue with our own visual perception. Films are a series of still images. They only appear to move because our eyes are too slow to make out each one. If we had faster reactions, we would see each frame of a movie individually, and the illusion would fall flat. My practice highlights the failings of our eyes and celebrates their imperfection. Through their imperfection, illusions work.
