Are you interested in gaining real experience of university research? Want to gain employment skills for your cv?
If so and you are in your penultimate year of study you should consider a Reading University UROP Placement. Reading is one of only three UK universities to run a UROP scheme and students find the experience really worthwhile; for some the project can lead to published papers and the opportunity to present their findings at conferences.
Summer 2012 placements will be advertised on the UROP web site from mid-January until early March. You will be able to see the range of projects available, the skills needed and the skills you will gain together with details of how to apply. Placements are usually available across the university and typically last for 6 weeks (or the equivalent if part-time)- students receive a £200/week bursary.
We will be running drop-in sessions in the Careers Centre in Spring Term together with information sessions for those thinking of applying. Further details will be posted nearer the time.
Take a look at the information on the UROP web site: UROP for Students
where you can also see what students have to say about UROP and find details of projects from previous years.
