Getting commercial and thinking creatively – careers workshop

Tuesday 12 June, 12.30 – 3.30pm

HumSS 25, Whiteknights

This session is designed not only for people thinking of setting up their own business but also for people looking at commercial roles in industries such as the media or publishing, PR or advertising.  Even charities are now looking for commercial awareness in many of their graduate roles.  If you are wondering how to demonstrate this in your applications and interviews come along to Tuesday’s session.

There will be an opportunity to get involved in an interactive strategy game where you will work as part of a small team to go through the decision-making processes and stages of setting up a new business venture.  It doesn’t matter if you want to set up your own business or not – it’s about thinking creatively, being entrepreneurial and working within a team!

You will hear from Fidgit Box on how they set up their own corporate video production company and be able to get some advice from them.  There is also a chance to think about how you use social media in your job search and how it can work to raise your profile.

This session will also count towards the Red Award.
