The Ark Trust, a ground breaking charity, requires a DRAMA PROJECT LEADER for a mixed-ability class of people with learning and other disabilities on Monday mornings (10am-noon) from September.
The Ark, based at Crowthorne in Berkshire, was the first UK charity to provide education and participation in the arts for people with disabilities. Its role has diversified and, in addition to a range of courses, it now manages a number of other projects but education is still at its heart.
This position would suit an enthusiastic drama graduate or someone with experience in community theatre keen to run workshops for people with disabilities. It is important that the sessions allow all participants to take part in an equal, non-judgmental and accessible way.
The ability to engage with people with disabilities, and to encourage them to participate in drama activities, is more important than formal teaching qualifications.
The Ark runs three terms of 13 weeks (including one week half term) per year.
Additional hours may be available on an ad hoc basis.
The trust is a user-led organisation. All staff are required to undergo an enhanced CRB check.
