Explore careers in advertising

Do you like the idea of a career in advertising? Join us at this online event and hear from advertising professionals about what they do day to day, how to get work experience in the industry, and how to land your first job in advertising when leaving uni!

Advertising is one of the most fast paced and varied careers around, with significant job growth in Reading, London and across the UK. In a graduate role you could be working front-of-house, buying up space on social media, digital, print or TV, designing campaigns, analysing campaign outcomes and working very closely with your clients to ensure they reach their strategic goals. Equally, you might be designing digital assets and images, write copy and text.

Stephen Taylor-Brown, Managing Director at Abacus
Stephen studied Economics & Statistics at Exeter University in the late 80s. He began life as a graduate commercial trainee for Allied Breweries and moved into marketing in his mid 20s. Stephen set up Abacus in 2010 to deliver high end integrated marketing activities to SMEs.

Kenneth Nel – Director and lead digital strategist at the The Digital Coach

Kenneth is the founder and creator of “TDC” a digital agency with a team of 10 digital zealots across three continents. From publishing his first book -“ the lie we are sold” based on a journey of more than 20 years in the digital marketing field. To pioneering the use of mobile media technologies and payment gateways in the early days with companies like  MTN (mobile telephone networks) and Vodafone, to generating over 3000  page 1 Rankings with SEO services for major directories.
He has worked with startups through to blue chip companies like 3M and has has developed a unique process for the delivery and execution of effective digital strategies… for companies and individuals alike.

Pierre-Lewis Coombes, Managing Director at Big Wolf Marketing Ltd
Over the last decade, Pierre founded Big Wolf Marketing group, a group of Sales & Marketing / Lead generation agencies. From its birth roots in Reading, Berkshire to its international expansion, the group thrives to deliver its clients with world-class tailored B2B Marketing solutions. Pierre has been featured on BBC One, The Evening Standard, and extensively online is regarded as a leading authority in Sales & Marketing.

Cat Hann, UK Brand Manager at KIND snacks (part of Mars Inc.)
Cat studied BSc Consumer Behaviour and Marketing between 2011 and 2015, with a placement at O2 for her year in industry. Cat knew that when she graduated that she wanted to go into the FMCG industry and so she joined KIND and has been with them ever since! KIND partnered with Mars in 2018 and so she has therefore had experience of a very small, agile business – as well as the larger, more corporate side!
