Goldstar Award for Professor Matthew Almond – best lecturer in Faculty of Life Sciences

MJAgoldstarphotoEach year, Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) invites students to
nominate members of staff whom they feel have had a great impact on their
learning whilst at University. This year’s winners were recently presented
with their Gold Stars at an awards ceremony in RUSU’s 3sixty.

Professor Matthew Almond – Department of Chemistry- was voted as the best lecturer in the Faculty of Life Sciences.

Part of his citation reads:-

“Matthew gives consistently well planned lectures which are always interesting for students. He is always happy to answer student questions, explain things further and make sure they are able to excel at any given opportunity. One student has been quoted as saying that Matthew has ‘inspired them to become a teacher, hoping that they can one day be as supportive and engaging as they have found him to be’.”

The award is also highlighted on the University’s Staff Portal
