While climate and environment are relevant for any society, we have identified several key periods which are of special interest. These either concern periods of profound climatic change (like the 9.2, 8.2, and 4.2 ka climatic events) or periods of clear political or socio-economic change which could be contemporaneous to climatic change (such as the end of the Late Bronze Age).
