In light of increasing ethnic and religious diversity, there is a need for diversity-ready cemeteries, crematoria and remembrance sites in the UK. The AHRC-ESRC Deathscapes & Diversity research project has investigated the politics and practices of migrant and minority cemetery and crematoria provision in four case towns in England and Wales. Working with local providers and communities, we aim to catalyse a more inclusive policy and research agenda across the sector. Please read further for more information on the research project.
Come to one of our exhibition events where you can learn about and reflect on the social diversity of cemeteries, crematoria and remembrance sites in England and Wales! The exhibition events come from in-depth research with local communities and service providers in four case study towns in England and Wales. At the events, you are invited to share your own experiences of cemeteries and crematoria. Moreover, we will explore how cemeteries and crematoria can better accommodate the needs of a diverse and multicultural society. Please read further for the dates, times and venues of events.
