Thanks to everyone who participated in the ‘Diversity-ready cemeteries and crematoria’ Launch event and exhibition, at the University of Reading, 13th of June 2018.
At the event, we launched the briefing report on our research project: “Diversity-ready cemeteries and crematoria in England and Wales” (University of Reading, 2018). We are especially grateful to Neelam Agarwal, Ahmed Alsisi, Daniel Slade (RTPI) and Martin Birch (ICCM) for their feedback and responses to the presentation of our findings and the briefing report, and for highlighting the importance to improve cemetery and crematorium provision in view of our multicultural, and to include this in local authority planning and bereavement services.
During lunch, we hosted an exhibition on our project results, with challenges and examples of good practice. In the afternoon, we work shopped the main findings from the report with all participants in a round-table discussion. You suggestions and comments have been very helpful and will be used to revise the briefing report and to write the short policy note. The short policy note will be published by the end of June, 2018.
