Alongside this we have been observing students left to their own devices trying to struggle to complete the instruction "You need to create a portfolio in Blackboard with ten pages in it, and share it with the instructors". The students are studying computing related subjects and have previously (last year) created a portfolio, so are typically confident that they know what to do. The observations (which I am not mentioning for now) show a marked difference in student experience and efficacy of portfolio creation to those I believe have been seen in the pilots run by Guy ;-)

The name "Tag All" comes from the days when each tag was individually tagged using a button, and it was general consensus that a tag-all at once feature was needed.

It has a strange unbehaviour in a less-modern browser which unfortunately tend to be used a lot! I've tried using ajax libraries and hand coding it with no luck! It is simple code, so it really ought to work, at it probably is something really stupid missing somewhere.

The 'Tag All' button confused me immensely, I must admit - I was left wondering why I should have to tag everything on my screen at the same time. That could just be that I would expect it to be "Add tags" or something - "Tag All" left me worrying that the tag I had typed in for item A would be applied to item B.

However, the bigger problem at the moment appears to be that despite the upgrade on the server, as things stand, it still doesn't work. I will investigate further, as the functionality is great on proper browsers (!)

I thought of a solution to the insertion problem:

There is an B2 class called blackboard.platform.plugin.PluginUtil which has a (undocumented) method getInsertToVtbePostUrl() which I use (and unfortunately have to use) to get information from a B2 into the Vtbe.

If you had that Url you could post directly to the Vtbe. We could set up a simple B2 that returns that URL to your javascript.

This solution has the obvious drawback that it will rely on said B2 being in the system in a consistent manner. I.e. each course using your code must install the B2 and change the URL to point to their "local" B2.

Not sure if this solution is much better than yours actually...

I was actually considering this option myself. I don't think support of it would become too difficult. We can always remove the feature once BB updates to SP6.
