Results have picked up for Oldham since RED began its narrative – but then they couldn’t have got much worse.

Tomorrow sees Colchester visit. A real bogey side, as the table below shows. At least, at home. The middle panel shows the last six meetings at Oldham. Colchester are unbeaten in eight visits to Boundary Park over the last thirteen years. But Oldham have three wins at Colchester in the last seven years.

But the top panel suggests that it’ll be tight; both teams only just recorded their first win, and their Elo ratings are very similar. RED factors in home advantage more than the bookmakers, this table suggests, as RED has Oldham at 39% to the bookmakers’ 31%, and sees Oldham scoring 1.28 goals to Colchester’s 1.15.

Just a 0.8% chance of a repeat of last season’s 3-3 draw…
