Creative Writing Event – all welcome

Creative Writing at Reading

In the first Creative Writing at Reading event of this academic year, the novelist Jo Baker will read from her work. Jo was born in Lancaster and educated at Oxford University and Queen’s University Belfast. She is the author of four novels: ‘Offcomer’, ‘The Mermaid’s Child’, ‘The Telling’ and, most recently ‘The Picture Book’ (published in the USA as ‘The Undertow’ and Book of the Week on Oprah.com). Her short fiction has also been widely published and acclaimed. Recent reviews have placed Jo ‘at the top end of the list of emerging, young British literary talent’ (Time Out) and recommended her ‘spare. visual prose’ as ‘a treat to read’ (Daily Mail). The reading will take place in room 108 of the Business School, Whiteknights on Wednesday 28th November at 5 pm. Jo will also lead a two hour creative writing workshop for undergraduates in the afternoon (the workshop is full but please contact Conor Carville at c.carville@reading if you wish to join the waiiting list for cancellations).
