Forward Prize-winning poet Kei Miller will be giving the annual Gerald Finzi Memorial Lecture in the Lecture Theatre of Building L22, London Road Campus, at 6:30pm onFriday 23 October 2015. His talk will be ‘In Praise of Volume’, which will reinscribe the idea of ‘quietness’ and ‘subtlety’ as being necessarily superior poetic strategies compared to poems that choose to make a louder sound.
On the following day (24 October), the Reading Poetry Festival will conclude with a focus on poetry in translation, with internationally acclaimed poets from Spain, Germany and the Netherlands coming to Reading! Sofia Rhei, Michael Kruger and Mustafa Stitou will be reading from their work alongside their prize-winning translators. This event will be followed by the local Two Rivers Press reading and a special evening reading given by the renowned and award-winning poet Sujata Bhatt.
Entry to the entire festival is FREE for students and members of the University of Reading, but you will need to book! For further details and how to book for the Finzi and the Saturday events, please go to http://readingpoetryfestival.org.
