Just to give you all a quick update with regards to Clearing today. We are aware that there are reports of a number of internal telephone calls dropping out as well as issues with making external calls.

Unfortunately due to an unprecedented number of telephone calls being made as a result of Clearing, the incoming direct dial and BT lines and telephone exchanges are running at peak capacity. We expect this to be the case for Friday as well.

 

Although we have put in place a process with BT and Vodafone, our voice carriers, to move the bottleneck of calls away from the University lines, we are still experiencing a very high number of calls.

Our Telephone system maintainers are running regular health checks on the telephone exchanges to monitor the situation.
