Reading Law Students Come Second in National Final of Telders International Law Mooting Competition

On Saturday 2 March February 2013, a team from the University was awarded second place in the UK National Final of the Telders International Law Mooting Competition.  Lena Chua, James Yap, Jonathan Yong  and Isabell Zubinsha Iskandar Zakaria took part in the event, which was held at Gray’s Inn in London. The UK Final involved three teams competing for a chance to take part in the International Finals, taking place in The Hague in April.

The Telders competition involves over 50 Universities internationally, across numerous national rounds. Participating teams are presented with a case involving a fictitious dispute between two states, taking place before the International Court of Justice. This year the moot involved issues related to territorial acquisition and environmental law. UCL ultimately won the UK round, but the Reading team was a close second and performed to an extremely high level. Congratulations to the team.
