There is an issues with downloading from Elms currently involving error messages relating to connectivity. This is preventing any download of programs on Campus and probably elsewhere as well. We have contacted the providers of this service and are awaiting further investigation from themselves.

A quick heads up on the Staff VPN application available to android and iphone/ipad.

The website opus.sse.reading.ac.uk is down due to problems with it disk.
We are working to resolve this and will have the site backup as soon as possible.
Files are now being restored from backup since the 28th of May

The research Matlab license has been updated to support R2013a. The copies of Matlab on store.sse.reading.ac.uk have also been updated to R2013a (except The MacOS version as I need to find MAC to test it on). See https://wiki.sse.reading.ac.uk/wiki/ITNG:Matlab for more information.
ITS are having issues with their file servers at the moment. This is causing big problems with the logon process at it tries to access these drives (N Drive e.t.c). To mitigate this, we have disabled the automatic mapping and redirecting of network shares.

IT Services are upgrading their file servers on Tuesday night. As this is where our servers are stored we will be shutting them down as a precautionary measure while the upgrade takes place. As a result ALL ITNG services should be considered at risk until 7:30pm.

Tonight from 6pm we will be rebooting the Student cPanel server (XXX.webs.sse.reading.ac.uk) and the Student VPN for a firmware update.

As we have been having issues with the student VPN service we are going to apply a firmware update tonight. Hopefully this will fix some of these problems. Also, the update introduces a new system for mapping drives which should be cross platform compatible and not require a client side program to be installed.

Happy new year to you all. As is customary ITNG have updated the image in the labs. This should lead to a better computing experience. We have pushed updates and several bug fixes, including issues with Solidworks’ Simulation .
On the Linux image we have a couple of changes, Chrome has been added and there is now support for the Ex-fat file system.
