Today we will welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex to our Whiteknights Campus. This visit forms part of a wider tour of the county taking place today during which the Royal couple will experience ‘the best of Berkshire’. Their visit to the University will focus on our Department of Meteorology which, last year, was one of just 12 academic departments from institutions around the UK to receive a Regius Professorship, awarded by Her Majesty The Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee.

The programme for the visit to the University will include lunch, hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by a number of activities led by colleagues from the Department of Meteorology including a weather and climate discussion, a chance to join students demonstrating green screen weather forecasting and an opportunity to launch a weather balloon.

Students are invited to join us at 13:00 in front of the Palmer Building to observe the balloon launch.
