Enter the Student Business Idea Competition and launch your entrepreneurship career

IDEAFEST logo: Student Business Idea CompetitionPitch your idea for the chance to win £1,000, plus mentoring to help you take your idea to the next stage.

Learn how to build and refine your business idea at a workshop during which you can network with other budding entrepreneurs.

The competition is managed by the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Henley Business School and consists of two rounds:

  • Round 1 – Submit your idea along with a three minute video
    Ideas will be reviewed by a panel of judges who will select five to go through to the second round.
  • Round 2 – Finalists will pitch to the panel and audience of peers and faculty members

The winner and runners-up will be announced and cash prizes presented immediately after the judging.

You can enter on your own, or as part of a team (with up to a max of three students in a team). Full details of the competition and how to apply will be announced shortly – watch this space!

The ‘Recognising Opportunities and Generating Ideas’ workshop on 12 June will help you develop your business idea and answer your questions ahead of your entry submission.  It’s completely free and run by members of the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship team and a partner from Pitmans LLP, a highly respected, long-established, locally based legal practice, with a strong record of supporting entrepreneurs.

The workshop will be held in G10 at the Henley Business School Building, Whiteknights. The outline programme is:

  1. Introduction to entrepreneurship and the business idea competition
  2. Developing your idea – Part 1: Customers, Revenue and Business Model
  3. Developing your idea – Part 2: Competition, Costs, Team & Risks
  4. Protecting your business idea

Start time is 10:00 and finish by mid-afternoon.

If you have a business idea and use the workshop to develop it, you can enter IDEAFEST, the student business idea competition. The team (individual or group of students) with the best idea, as chosen by a panel of judges will win a £1,000 cash prize plus professional mentoring to help develop their business plans and commercialise their ideas.  There are also cash prizes and mentoring for runners-up.
