Get Active for University Mental Health Day


Next week Universities up and down the country will be celebrating University Mental Health Day on Thursday 2 March – a national initiative which aims to promote greater understanding of mental health amongst students.

The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘active mental health’ to get people to think about the link between physical activity and positive mental wellbeing.

There will be a number of things happening on campus on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 March, including group fitness classes, guided walks, and engaging talks by expert guest speakers.

Alongside these activities, we’re also running a photo competition open to all students where you’ll have the chance to win the top prize of a £50 Blackwells voucher, a free month’s membership at the SportsPark, or one of 2 x £20 Unique Fruits vouchers which can be spent at the weekly fruit and veg market in ThreeSixty.

To take part, simply upload a photo of you getting active to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter with the hashtag #UoRGetActive before 5pm on Wednesday 1 March. Whether it’s a trip to the gym, taking your dog for a walk, or dancing the night away with friends – we want to see it!
