On the 3rd May, local government elections are taking place in Reading and many other parts of England.

If you’ve registered to vote, remember to have your say!

Some things to know:

  • You can only vote if you have registered
  • You also need to fulfil the criteria listed here
  • If your home and university addresses are in two different local authorities, you can vote in the local elections for both areas (this doesn’t apply to general elections)
  • Local elections can have a big impact on issues such as education services, local transport, parks and public spaces, and leisure and recreation activities

To find your local polling station, contact Reading Borough Council on 0118 937 3717 or elections@reading.gov.uk. Alternatively, to check polling stations using your postcode, click here.
