Academic life is a funny thing…

I have been dashing along since my last blog post, so immersed in the life of an academic that it seems two moments since August. It has been stressful at times (how can quite so many emails from students land in one person’s inbox in just one day??), at times it has been downright scary (and how was I supposed to know that the presentation aid control box in the largest lecture theatre was have required me to press three different buttons just to make any sound happen?), but mainly it as been a good term so far.

Huge plans are afoot for the rest of the term, including getting on with the next book and launching the pilot version of our new Professional Track Degree, so this blog, fun as it has been, will have to be left in abeyance for the forseeable future. Maybe later on in the academic year my life will get quieter, or equally it might get even busier, or it might change direction in any number of strange ways. Whichever way it turns, I know that it will always have students at its centre, and it will always challenge me and enrich my days. Such, in truth, is the life of a lecturer.
