Today, while Sam was investigating pests in the tropical glasshouse he noted that the plant of Chaenostoma cordatum ‘Copia Great Purple’ was suffering from both whitefly and thrips while plants around it were free of both. This plant from southern Africa is commonly grown in the U.K. under the incorrect name Bacopa, which it was confused with when it entered cultivation. The white flowered cultivar ‘Snowflake’ is most commonly seen in garden centres as a plant for hanging baskets.
