University of Reading
The University of Reading Students Union (RUSU) have awarded Jenny Berger, the manager of the Technologies for Sustainable Built Environment Research Centre (TSBE), the Support Staff Excellence Award at this year’s RUSU Partnership in Teaching & Learning Showcase.
The RUSU Excellence Awards recognise University of Reading staff who display excellent and innovative teaching practice. The students award the staff who they believe have gone above and beyond expectations, tirelessly working to improve the delivery of students teaching and learning experience. Jenny has been given this award in recognition of her outstanding work, supporting the Engineering Doctorate students (EngD) in the University.
EngD Researcher, Saadia Ansari, said “Jenny has been a constant source of inspiration and encouragement. She provides so much more than practical guidance and professional management. She is knowledgeable and supportive, and is constantly seeking new ways for us to excel during our time under her care, whether that be organising additional training, or qualifications, or even an inspiring seminar or conversation from an expert in the field. Always focussing on the end goal of making us a successful EngD candidate that has produced valuable research and is an employable graduate of the University.”
On receiving the Award Jenny said “ To be recognised and appreciated by the students I work with is hugely rewarding. I have been privileged to work with some truly inspirational people, to share their infectious enthusiasm and to watch them grow into the next generation of successful engineers, researchers and industry leaders. We have enjoyed great support from our network of leading industry partners and academics who have enabled the researchers to carry out exciting research with real world impact. Thank you to all the students and the RUSU for recognizing me with this Award for Excellence”
