Welcome to the UN Gender Network

The AHRC-funded  UN Gender Network brings academics, civil society, member states and individuals working at the UN together in a spirit of conversation and collaboration. It aims to achieve a deep understanding of the causes and impact of gender inequality within the UN and the impact this has on its leadership of the Sustainable Development Goals and broader development policy. Our core focus is on the UN Secretariat and UN Agencies and the working lives of women within those organisations. A feminist outlook is taken in examining the continued gender inequality within the United Nations and we consider an intersectional and inclusive definition of women to be central to our understanding of equality.

On this website you will find links to UN reports, UN bodies as well as contact details for the Network leaders, Prof¬†Aoife O’Donoghue (Durham University) and Prof Rosa Freedman (Reading University). Please follow the links on the menu above.
