Data Collection Day 4 – Campus Woodland

Monday night I undertook a dusk survey on campus woodland from 5-9pm in the evening. Unfortunately, the rain came and as a result, only witnessed 12 separate species of bird, adding another 2 to the ones I hadn’t witnessed before: song thrush and a grey heron. There has also been a reported “hearing” of a Tawny Owl on campus by one of my colleagues, but I have yet to hear it myself!

The full list in alphabetical order is:

  • Blackbird (Turdus merula)
  • Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus)
  • Carrion Crow (Corvus corone corone)
  • Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)
  • Dunnock (Prunella modularis)
  • Green Woodpecker (Picus viridis)
  • Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)
  • Jay (Garrulus glandarius)
  • Robin (Erithacus rubecula)
  • Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos)
  • Tawny Owl (Strix aluco)
  • Woodpigeon (Columba palumbus)
  • Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes)
