Reading Student Sustainability Summit

Text: Reading University Student Sustainability Summit. 1st of March 2023. Sustainability speakers and student talks. Find out more, tickets, and how to get involved at RUSU.co.uk

Reading University Student Sustainability Summit (RUSSS) is a one-day conference style event aimed to bring students and staff together to discuss ideas and learn more about sustainability.

Oscar and Harry, RUSU’s Full-time officers, are working together with the University to put on this opportunity for you to talk about your interests and hear from fellow students, staff and professionals in the field.

The Summit’s overarching theme is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all the United Nation Member states in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for all United Nations Member States for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future. At the heart of this blueprint are the 17 Sustainable development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

The day is centred around students presenting their ideas and interests, from university course work, work conducted outside of university to even a side hustle, like a sustainable clothing business. Amongst these presentations we will be hosting two key-note speakers, one from the University and an external speaker, which are to be announced soon.

The day will be free for all to attend, you can find tickets on the RUSU event website soon!
