Explore careers in journalism

If you’re a confident communicator, can work under pressure and enjoy engaging an audience then maybe you’ve considered a career in journalism? From broadcast journalism to newspaper, magazine and online, each platform offers a wide range of opportunities to graduates who can demonstrate the skills, determination and commitment. To secure a graduate role in this field, relevant experience will be essential, so come to this session to hear form professionals about their career paths, and pick up tips on how to get the right kind of experience

Our panel of experts range from recent graduates to those with a number of years experience:

  • Adam Bloodworth – A Reading Graduate and freelance journalist with applied knowledge of editorial for online magazines. Adam has written for the Evening Standard, Metro, South China Morning Post and VICE
  • Faye Harland – Faye is the Head of News at BBC Radio Berkshire
  • Sean Fleming at Formative content – Sean started his career working at a freelance copy/features agency. Most of what we did was celebrity and trivia based.  A couple of years later, Sean gravitated toward business and technology, and wrote for print and online titles.
  • Yusuf Khan a journalist at Business Insider -Yusuf is currently a markets and finance reporter at Business Insider having just graduated in July.  Yusuf also undertook placements at the Financial Times and Wales Online Business desk.
