Finding internships and work experience

January 21, 2020 @ 17:00 - 18:00

Whether you have a clear idea of the type of career you want to pursue or are still exploring your options, undertaking an internship or some work experience is a huge benefit. Working within a company or organisation is one of the best ways to understand whether that role or company is right for you, and meeting others who work there will help you to build your network. Graduate recruiters will be looking for work experience on your CV to demonstrate your interest in a particular sector and valuable skills.

Not sure where to start with finding the right opportunities for you? Come along to this session to find out:

– The basics: terminology, timeframes for applications and where internships are advertised;
– How to identify sources of internships and work experience specific to the area you are targeting;
– How to make effective proactive, speculative requests for internships and work experience (where none are advertised!).

This session is the perfect place to start researching the different work experience options available to you., whatever stage of your degree you’re at.

*This workshop can count for 1 hour of your RED Award training and development hours. Find out more about the RED Award at reading.ac.uk/REDAward
