Introduction to the civil service fast stream

Come to the Introduction to the Civil Service Fast Stream event to hear about the schemes available as part of the Fast Stream, and get a first hand account from current fast streamers about their experiences on the scheme.

The government currently employs 453,000 civil servants on a full-time basis in the UK. These guys are the talented people that help the government to develop and deliver its policies in the most effective way possible.

Consequently, careers in the Civil Service are pretty exciting and ever so important. The hard work of civil servants has a huge impact on all our lives and society would not be able to function properly without them. So how do you get involved? Well, there are a number of possible routes in, but for budding graduates the best, most popular and most competitive way is through the Civil Service Fast Stream programme.

The Civil Service Fast Stream is our award-winning leadership development programme.  It develops people from a wide range of backgrounds who have the potential to become our future senior leaders.  We offer over 1500 roles in a choice of 15 schemes, each within a profession, and the opportunity to contribute to fast-paced work that makes a difference to the whole of society.

Regardless of the degree subject you studied, there’s scheme that’s right for you. Many of our schemes also offer the chance to study for a professional qualification.

Applications for the Fast Stream schemes will close on the 24th October 2019, however, this is the deadline for the initial application, all testing and interviews will take place after this date.
