National Film and Television School – Creative Careers Clinics

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) specialises in MA, Postgraduate Diploma and Diploma courses that offer students a great balance of practical and theoretical studies. The courses are run by industry professionals with top facilities, which gives us our world-renowned reputation for offering the very best in tuition, key contacts and bridges into the industry upon graduating. They’re delighted to be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, and in that time they have helped to develop some of Britain and the world’s top creative talent.

NFTS alumni have gone on to win 13 Oscars and 145 BAFTAs with graduates including; Oscar winning cinematographer Roger Deakins (1917), Laurie Nunn, creator of global Netflix hit Sex Education, award winning writer/director Joanna Hogg (The Souvenir), award winning writer/director Shola Amoo (The Last Tree), BAFTA winning director David Yates (Harry Potter), BAFTA winning director Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here), Oscar winning animator Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit) and Oscar winning composer Dario Marianelli.

They would like to invite current 2nd and 3rd year students to their upcoming Creative Career Clinic sessions which will be held via Zoom.

These sessions will offer current undergraduate students insight into how they can establish a career in the film, television or games industry after their degree, how their skills are adaptable and what potential career pathways are available to them.

They have a number of sessions which would be very relevant to your students and their experience:


Tuesday 16th March, 4:30pm – Sports Production

This session will demonstrate how a keen interest in the sports industry can lead to a brilliant career producing great content.

This would be of interest to your Film and Television students who are interested in this career path.


Tuesday 23rd March, 4:30pm – Motion Graphics and Titles for Film and Television

This session would be suitable for your students wanting to learn about how they can turn their creative skillset into designing graphics for a fantastic TV opening sequence, film credits or promotional materials.

This would be suitable for your students studying Film and Television and Graphic Communication and Design.


Thursday 25th March, 4:30pm – Marketing, Distribution, Sales and Exhibition

What’s the point of a great film if no one gets to see it? Find out why marketing is such a key part of the film, television and games industry and the different roles within it.

This session would be of interest to your Consumer Behaviour and Marketing, Film and Television and Marketing students.


Monday 29th March, 4:30pm – Digital Effects for Film and Television

This session will discuss the career paths in digital and visual effects for film, television and games, including CG 3D, colour and compositing, and how to get there.

This would be suitable for your Architectural Engineering, Computer Science and Film and Television students.


Tuesday 30th March, 4:30pm – Games Design and Development

The games industry is booming with more people than ever before consuming video game content. How can I be a part of creating this? There are a huge range of entry routes into the games industry and this session will cover a variety of these options.

This session is aimed at your Architectural Engineering, Computer Science and Film and Television students who may be interested in this area.


Each session will include talks from the relevant NFTS Head of Department and recent alumni who are now working in the industry. There will also be the opportunity for your students to ask any questions that they may have about their own future plans.
