Volunteer as a Community Champion

Midshot of female student stood infront of treesVolunteering your time not only helps others but can benefit our mental health and tackle feelings of loneliness. Making active change to support others also looks fantastic on your CV, like showing your ability to work with people remotely – an increasingly important skill! Volunteering can also broaden our mindset and enhances essential soft skills like communication and empathy.

Community Champions will work remotely with local community groups and members of the community to assist with different digital tasks where additional support and guidance is needed. You can help those who may need support, which is especially important now we are increasingly reliant on technology.  If you can give approximately 2-4 hours a week, you can help by:

  • Providing tech support for people in the community (helping them to make the most of online communication tools such as Skype, Zoom, Whatsapp)
  • Writing blogs and marketing material for community groups
  • Supporting community groups and member of the community in using social media
  • Helping refugees by translating key documents/letters
  • Working with community organisations to help with logistics tasks, such as organising deliveries
  • Plus much more!

All of the volunteering will be done remotely over phone and by email, so no matter where you are based there will still be plenty of opportunity to get involved!

What skills can I offer? The skills that you need for this opportunity are up to you! When you complete the application form below please detail what skills you have to offer and we will try to match you up with someone in the community who will benefit from your skills.

The Community Champions volunteering opportunity also counts towards your RED Award – to use in volunteering or Core Activity section – get involved by applying through this brief form.
