Department Hosts European Union COST workshop on surface structure determination by low energy electron diffraction (LEED)

EU Cost WorkshopLast week, the department hosted a European Union COST workshop on surface structure determination by low energy electron diffraction (LEED).

The School is funded by the European COST Action CM0904 “Network for intermetallic compounds as catalysts for steam reforming of methanol” and was organised by Prof. Georg Hel,d with PhD student Jacopo Ardini (Reading) and Prof.  Katariina Pussi (Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland) as trainers.

It was a hands-on training enabling the participants to run their own structural analysis of ordered surface structures. The opportunity to learn about LEED first hand attracted young researchers from seven European countries who enjoyed the three days of intensive training and networking in the Department.
