There is a complete round of midweek Premier League fixtures over the next two evenings.
Burnley are unbeaten in 8, after previous to that winning just 1 in 12 games. Their manager’s stock is rising again. You have to wonder whether this reversal in fortune comes from reverting to some tried-and-tested formula, abandoning a failed tactical experiment of some sort from the first half of the season. Tonight, Burnley travel to Newcastle, who are another side enjoying 2019 more than 2018. The Model gives Newcastle the edge, and predicts a 1-0 (18%) home win.
The competition for the top 4 is just as fierce as ever. Man Utd probably have the advantage now, but Arsenal and Chelsea will fight all the way. All three teams are most likely forecast to win tonight. Utd at Palace (45%), Arsenal at home to Bournemouth (61%), and Chelsea welcoming Spurs (43%).
The table below gives the rest of the Model’s forecasts for Round 28 of the Premier League:

  • The Forecast scoreline, with the % chance of that happening
  • The % chance of a win by the Home team, P(H), or Away team, P(A) (with one hundred minus those two numbers giving the % chance of a draw
