On Thursday 4th July, the Contemporary Poetry Discussion Group decided that they were going to be mixing it up a little by changing their usual contemporary focus and looking at Walt Whitman’s ‘Song of Myself’, from Leaves of Grass. In particular, they were looking at the first 11 sections (around 10 pages) of the poem.
The group continues to go from strength to strength and has become a settled part of the life of the department during this academic year, providing a space for lively discussions of poetry about which many have strong, sometimes passionate, views – it has been a pleasure and an inspiration. Long may it continue!
