Professor Peter Robinson composed ‘Time for Time’ after visiting Reading Prison last year. Reading publisher Two Rivers Press, with which Peter is connected, has also published The Ballad of Reading Gaol recently.
He had been invited to the prison to discuss poetry with a group of men who were participating in a reading group led by Sue Colbourn of The Reader Organisation.
After hearing of the imminent closure of the prison Peter teamed up with Reading publisher Two Rivers Press to release the poem in time for National Poetry Day on October 3.
