Outstanding Personal Tutor Excellence Award

Over the past few weeks, RUSU has been running the RUSU Excellence awards. These are teaching awards which aim to recognise members of University of Reading staff who the students believe have gone above and beyond their expectations, tirelessly working to improve the delivery of their teaching and learning experience.

We are delighted to report that Professor Karin Lesnik-Oberstein has been given the prestigious Outstanding Personal Tutor Excellence Award.

Here are some of the comments made by students:

‘When I seriously doubted myself, Karin took the time to give me feedback on how I could improve my work… Karin gave me the confidence boost that I needed!’

‘I can think of no single person in my University, or indeed school, career that has been more inspirational, beneficial or invested into my academic or personal life.’

‘Karin lays praise on our work and builds our confidence and I sincerely doubt she knows the sheer amount of praise she receives from my peers when we discuss her, her teaching and her kindness.’

‘I would not be here at Reading University if not for the support she offered’

‘Karin sends me e-mails of opportunities she thinks would suit me, she has never refused to have a meeting to discuss anything’

Our warm congratulations to Karin!

Of her award, Karin writes: ‘I would like to thank all my students who nominated me for their incredible generosity and kindness and that it is my honour and privilege to be my students’ tutor’.
