IMAA 2023

Registration has closed for the  next IMAA workshop which will be held on April 1st and 2nd 2023 at the University of Reading.

**Please note that April 1st 2023 is scheduled as a strike day on the railways. (Please follow updates on rail strikes with National Rail). If you are flying into Heathrow airport, the coach is the best way to travel directly to Reading and it is very quick.**

The themes for the 2023 workshop are:

  • Archaeo- and Paleobotanical Approaches to Tropical Agriculture
  • Innovation in microanalysis, taphonomy and identification
  • Rewilding and Conservation
  • Science Communication of Archaeo- and Palaeobotanical Data
  • Sustainable Uses of Plants
  • The Archaeobotany of the Islamic West

The 2023 workshop will follow the format of oral presentations in the morning and microscopy sessions and round table discussions in the afternoon.

The first draft of the timetable is available online.

A small meeting of WASM (Working Group of Archaeological Soil Micromorphology) will be held before the IMAA on 30th and 31st March as a separate event.

Lisa Lodwick memorial book sale

As most of you know, Lisa Lodwick very sadly passed away last year. Many of Lisa’s collection of books will be on sale during the conference and all of the proceeds will be donated to Coppafeel! A breast health/cancer awareness charity.
