In the spirit of raising the profile of mathematics at The University of Reading, Nasreen Majid, the IoE’s Programme Director of BA (QTS) Education Primary has had an insightful interview published on the website of The Maths Scholars’ Scheme that promotes mathematics scholarships for Teacher Training. You can read it here: http://teachingmathsscholars.org/news/primary-mathematics-at-the-university-of-reading.
Nasreen Majid is an enthusiastic director of the University of Reading’s BA Education primary programmes. She teaches mathematics to all students in the programme and oversees the other specialisms: English, Art and Music.
As Nasreen comments in the article: “[Ours] is a unique course because students have specialisms at the point of entry. This is very rare on a Primary Teacher Training Course. In fact two modules are dedicated to these specialisms alongside developing an expertise in teaching.”
The Maths Scholars’ Scheme has been commissioned by the National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and its site is the first step of an exciting journey for maths enthusiasts, taking them towards a career teaching Maths.
