We have had a recent upsurge in University of Reading specific phishing scams. This time, they are tailored particularly to mimic our mail systems.

The specific phish that has come through this morning looks like this:

Capture

It was sent to around 500 mailboxes and was not marked as spam. The main clue that it is spam when you first read it is in the poorly written language, with obvious mistakes such as ‘responds’ and ‘apologize’.

We have blocked the host that was linked to from this email, but anyone receiving this email, particularly if you are not at the University,  is advised to not click on the link.

We would like to remind you all that IT Services staff will never request your password information.
