Scholars from Translation/Interpreting Studies in the June meeting of Lingos argued that current research in the field has moved significantly beyond the idea of linguistic transfer. Research on intercultural communication in the context of power relations with state institutions ( asylum seeker interviews;community interpreting;volunteer interpreting networks with horizontal participation) may offer insights and approaches which could be of value to NGOs.
