We are running two choirs – UoR Music Chorus and our new Vocal Ensemble. We will let you know which choir you have been allocated to.
- Our choirs are perfect for anyone who wants to sing in an ensemble to a high standard.
- Both choirs will be conducted by both Victoria Ely and Patrick Barrett.
- Both choirs will be performing at our Puccini, Messa di Gloria concert on the 4th of December 2022. Please put the date in your diary!
Both choirs will also have the opportunity to take part in a workshop with Sonoro. Sonoro, being one of the country’s foremost professional choral ensembles. This Choral Inspirations workshop on the 11th of March 2023 will include singing contemporary music side-by-side highly accomplished professional singers.
UoR Music Chorus
This choir will run from 18:30-20:00 every Thursday. Open to students, staff and alumni members.
First rehearsal – Thursday 29th Sept, 2022-23 Chorus Term Card
Entry requirements:
- No audition.
- Ability to read music.
- Some previous vocal or instrumental experience is desirable
Out of respect for fellow choir members, musicians should be prepared to commit to arriving punctually and attending every rehearsal unless there is a valid reason approved by the director in advance.
Vocal Ensemble
This choir will run from 20.15-21:15 every Thursday.
First rehearsal – Thursday 6th October, 2022-23 Vocal Ensemble Term Card
The UoR Music Vocal Ensemble is a student-only ensemble.
- Members are not required to audition however they must be able to read music and have some previous choral singing experience.
- The voicing of the Vocal Ensemble will change depending on membership each year and may consist of either upper voices only (Sop/Alto) or mixed voices (SATB).
- All Vocal Ensemble members are required to sing in the UoR Music Chorus.
