Abstract
Peatlands are an important terrestrial carbon store, but degradation through human land use has limited the carbon uptake of many UK peatlands. Restoration of these areas can increase carbon uptake from the atmosphere, and is therefore a valuable carbon sequestration tool. This project aims to use remotely sensed earth observation data to estimate carbon fluxes across large areas of peatland in order to more accurately measure the effects of peatland restoration. The main field site for this work is the RSPB led Forest-to-Bog project site at Forsinard Flows in Northern Scotland.
