There are still a few places left on the next introduction to bike maintenance course at the University on Wednesday 20 February from 13:00-16:00 in the JJ Thomson building.
To reserve your place you can now book online using the University’s online shop.
The cost will be £10 for the three hour session, which is heavily subsidised. The number of places on each courses is strictly limited. We hope to have additional dates added for 20 March; 1 May; 5 June which will also be available to book on the above link shortly. We have also had requests to run the course on a day other than a Wednesday, so if you would like to attend the course but Wednesday afternoon is not convenient for you, please email email@example.com with your preferred day. This is likely to take place in early May.
The three hour course is an introduction to bike maintenance, designed for anyone who needs to know how to fix their bicycle and will cover:
- Naming and understanding the parts of a bike
- “M Check” safety inspection
- Fixing a puncture
- Brakes – adjustment and fitting new pads
- Gears – indexing and minor adjustments
You need to bring your own bike to work on (although if you don’t have one and still want to do the course let us know and we might be able to arrange something). We will provide aprons, stands and a workbench.
