As the Internet and online technology infiltrates every aspect of work life, and in line with the Digital Transformation programme, it becomes imperative that everyone is trained and ready to meet the needs of the move to digital. Learners need the ability and capability to engage with digital tools and technologies.
New Directions College Reading have introduced a new range of courses, tailored around improving your digital skills, in fields such as communication, maths, and how to build and create a professional online presence.
These courses are all designed to help you work more productively and efficiently in a digital world.
New Directions College have released 4 new qualifications, which can be completed remotely within 6-12 weeks, with a flexible timetable and tutor support available if required. The courses aim to improve digital literacy and to support adults in getting IT related jobs.
The four new NCFE accredited qualifications are as follows:
L1 Certificate in Digital Skills
This level 1 course covers the basics of the e-safety, searching for information on the Internet, communicating online and Word processing applications.
It is ideal for those getting their first brush with the use of Office applications in the work environment.
L2 Certificate in Digital Skills
The Level 2 course enhances the digital competency and provides an opportunity for progression by covering how to protect devices and data, communicating professionally using technology and applying digital tools in business situations.
L2 Certificate in Understanding Data Protection and Security
The Level 2 course covers the Data Protection Act and GDPR legislation. It will teach learners the important of protecting data, threats to data and how to protect it and finally the consequences of a breach.
L2 Certificate in Creating a Business Start-up
Every year a huge number of businesses are started and many of them fail within the first two or three years. This course would provide wannabe entrepreneurs with guidance on initial processes, marketing, legal and financial implications, as well as help develop a business plan.
All of the courses are flexible and can be built around your work schedule, needing around 1-2 hours or more each week. The initial interview and discussion with the tutor would set up a timeline for course completion that is flexible and meets the needs of the learner.
When you first enrol, your tutor will hold a discussion with you to see where you are currently at and will set basic tasks for you to complete. After being assessed, an enrolment form will be sent across that needs to be completed and mailed back along with evidence of your residence and income.
Post-enrolment process, the learner will be sent a link and login credentials to e-workbooks that will allow you to complete different units and assignments for the qualification.
