What is Blackboard Learn?
Blackboard Learn is the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is used to provide you with flexible access to online learning, information and activities. You will also use it to submit your coursework electronically (where appropriate). Find:
- Courses which relate to your modules and/or programme of study. Every course is different but can contain learning materials, information, videos, quizzes and discussions, as well as allowing you to submit assessments online.
- General resources to support your learning (e.g. about study skills or student wellbeing). These are called ‘Organisations’.
- Most schools also provide specific administrative information about teaching and learning using a Blackboard School portal page.
Watch this 5 minute video designed to give you a brief overview of Blackboard and how it’s used to enrich and support your studies here at UoR.
The following 6 minute video will take you on a more detailed tour of Blackboard providing information about all its tabs, including your school portal and the Fileshare area. You’ll find out how to set your personal notifications to keep you updated of activity in your Blackboard courses, and spend a little more time inside a Blackboard course and see where you can submit online assignments for marking.
