Making your Blackboard Ultra Organisation visible to students

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you are involved with managing or supporting an Organisation in Blackboard, you’ll be aware that Organisations are moving to the new Blackboard Learn Ultra interface for the coming academic year. We know that many of you have been hard at work setting up your new Ultra organisations. Currently, however, we can’t see very many that have been made available to students. With the start of teaching rapidly approaching, we’d like to remind everyone of the key dates, and to make sure you know where to turn for support if you need any further help.

Timeline for switching to Ultra

As previously advertised, Monday 11th September is the deadline for making your new Ultra organisation visible to students and setting the Original version to ‘Unavailable’.

If your new Ultra organisation is ready for use now, then there’s no need to wait until 11th September – please make it visible to students, and set the old organisation as Unavailable.

From 11th September, DTS will run a process to set all student-facing Original Organisations as ‘Unavailable’. Once an organisation is Unavailable it displays to students as ‘Private’ and they are not able to access it.

Please note: any staff enrolled on Original organisations as Leader or Assistant will still be able to access these once made unavailable. So you will still be able to go in and retrieve any content you need, until January when they are set as disabled – see the full Timeline for details.

Training and support

If you still have work to do getting your new organisation ready, please focus on the content which it is essential for students to have access to at the start of term.
