Original Blackboard Organisations are now unavailable to students
In line with our previous communications, all student-facing Blackboard Original organisations have now been made unavailable to students. DTS have assigned all such organisations an End Date of 11th September 2023.
External Examiner organisations have not been affected by this, and are still available as normal to both University staff and your external examiners.
Making your Blackboard Ultra Organisation visible to students
If you are responsible for an Ultra organisation, please make sure that you have made the organisation visible by the time your students need to access it.
Once you have made it visible, we suggest that you post an Announcement from the new organisation, alerting students to the change, and telling them what your organisation is for, and why they’ll need to visit it.
Staff access to Original organisations
If you need access to any Original organisations you will need to go to the Organisations page and select ‘Organisations from 2023’ from the drop-down list at the top of the page.
Please note – we’d have preferred to call these ‘Expired Organisations’ but Blackboard assigns the label automatically.
Original organisations will be shown as ‘Private’.
If you have a staff role such as Leader or Assistant, you will still be able to access the organisation – for example if you need to download any files for archive purposes.
You will see a message at the top of the screen stating that the organisation is unavailable to students.
Participants (students) get an error message if they try to access a Private organisation.
