Blackboard Course Banner Issue

Issue with banner images on 2023-4 courses

On the 6^th of September an issue occurred that removed the banner images in 2023/4 Blackboard courses. This issue affected 700+ courses.

We contacted Blackboard to find out if they could be restored. They have communicated that this is not possible.

Update 18^th September

Unfortunately, it is not possible to replace the banners to individual courses automatically, it will be necessary for these to be replaced manually to each affected module.

What do I need to do

To replace your image please follow these steps.

1. Go to your 2022-3 course and right click on the image.
2. From the contextual menu select “save image as” and save the file locally.

3. Go to your 2023-4 course and select Customisation in the Course Management section.
4. Under Customisation select Teaching Style.
5. In the Teaching Style screen scroll down to Select Banner.
6. Use “Browse local files” to find the saved image.
7. Click Submit
